Is the Stanhope Show Worth Visiting During Your Stay in Weardale?
If you’re planning a trip to Weardale and look at what’s on in the local area you might have come across Stanhope Show, one of County Durham’s best known countryside events.
But is it worth adding to your plans during your stay in Weardale?
What Is the Stanhope Show?
It’s a traditional agricultural show established in 1834, it’s one of England’s longest-running rural shows, but with plenty to see and do beyond farming displays. The show is held every September in the market town of Stanhope, just a short drive from Weardale Holiday Lodges.
They’ll be livestock competitions, countryside demonstrations, artisan market stalls, classic showground food and live displays in the main arena. It’s a relaxed agricultural show where you can easily enjoy a few hours.
When and Where Does It Happen?
The 2025 Stanhope Show is expected to take place over the first weekend in September. It’s hosted at Stanhope Showground, a large greenfield site in the centre of the town, with easy access from all directions.
The showground is roughly 10 minute drive from Weardale Holiday Lodges or if you fancy a walk it is also accessible on foot. There’s plenty of on-site parking available but we would recommend getting there early to find suitable parking.
